Join Our Fun and Hardworking Team

As more and more people visit Travelers Rest and specifically Upcountry Provisions, the more they look for ways to be part of what is happening in our local family-owned restaurant. It's the job of an Upcountry Provisions team member to help build this community by furthering the reach and impact of our small but mighty brand that focuses on providing an excellent product to locals and visitors alike.

Thank you for contacting us about your interest in joining our fun and hardworking team. We always look for good people and hire based on attitude since we believe our management processes are trainable.

We offer one to two rounds of a Stage Interview for all new candidates - an initial stage interview and then a final stage interview if employment looks like a good fit. Since this is a working interview, here's what you need to know:

Our Stage interviews are scheduled from 10:00 am - To rush, and Rush usually wraps up around 2:30 pm, once the kitchen is cleaned up from lunch service. Please read the Stage details below.

  • You must wear close-toed shoes, denim or khaki pants or shorts, and hair pulled back. We provide chef coats and aprons to wear over your shirt during the shift.
  • During your first interview, we evaluated you based on communication, teamwork, attitude, and work ethic. We understand that you won't know your way around our kitchen immediately, and that's OK. The second interview evaluates competence in the kitchen.
  • You will primarily run food, wash dishes, board tables, and maintain FOH customer service. If you can manage these tasks, there will be additional prep jobs for you.
  • Please be familiar with our bistro menu before your interview.
  • Also, as a general heads up, we operate a commercial kitchen that serves hundreds of meals per day and is primarily a bistro, which is different from the common assumption that our restaurant bakes bread and cookies for fun. I only say this because it is a common misunderstanding of the workload involved in working at a small family-owned restaurant such as ours (Upcountry Provisions), and we have zero tolerance for underperformance.
  • Heavy lifting and a high level of manual labor are required.
